Moyenne Rig
Empress Theatre
Moyenne Rig is an Acadian country music band inspired by bluegrass roots. The band’s three young men all hail from Saint John, New Brunswick: Martin Bourque (lead vocals & guitar), Noah Ouellette (vocals & banjo), and Jeremy Richard (vocals & mandolin).
Their roots are well anchored in Kent County, where the group’s parents and grandparents grew up. Even though the boys are childhood friends, Moyenne Rig was formed in late 2018, when the boys were barely 11 years old, thanks to their school’s music program: Musimaniacs, at the Centre scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain, in Saint John.
These great friends will be 17 years old in 2024 when they add a fourth Summer of festivals and shows to their resumes, performing throughout the Maritimes, and in Quebec. Don’t be fooled by this new band and their tender age! Moyenne Rig’s repertoire already includes 11 original songs, and many borrowed adaptations of some of their favorite artists, with bluegrass always at the top of the list!
